Timed to follow a year on from the introduction of the EU Circular Economy package of reforms, and in the context of the Government ban on microbeads set for 2017, this seminar discussed the next steps for implementing measures to improve resource efficiency and the future for the waste sector in the UK.
Delegates assessed strategies for changing consumer behaviours and the effects of the rollout in 2016 of minimum pricing for plastic bags in England, alongside ways in which sustainability can be embedded at all levels of the supply chain. Following the publication of WRAP’s framework for improving consistency of waste and recycling collections across England, further sessions examined the latest developments in energy from waste, the progress towards increasing recycling rates on a local and commercial level, and innovative business models in the circular economy.
