Job title: Researcher
Apply by: January 2012
Salary: depending on experience

Help produce seminars on public policy that make headlines and move forward thinking on some of the most important issues for policymakers in Parliament and Whitehall, for businesses and the third sector, and for local government, academics, professional bodies and a range of other stakeholders. Media, environment, transport and energy are areas where the Forum is currently looking for researchers to add to the team organising high-level seminars.

This could be an opportunity for a recent graduate or a new challenge for a quick learner with a working track record. We look out especially for candidates who have some experience, and can show an active interest, in public policy and politics. For this role, insights into the issues that matter across the current policy agenda are an advantage.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills, and will be quick to learn. This is exacting work: the ability to assimilate and analyse information quickly and to write clearly, effectively and with accuracy is essential. A basic understanding of UK politics, parliamentary systems, local government, the third sector and the world of business would be an advantage. An outgoing personality helps. Whatever the individual's background they will need to demonstrate both the passion and practical focus to help achieve our mission of providing policy makers with the context they need to make the best decisions.

Our events are constructive, inclusive, challenging and strictly impartial. They are important occasions for policymakers, those affected by the issues and other interested parties. It's demanding but rewarding work in a company that is commercially focused and expanding, but with a strong ethical heart.

The researcher is part of a small team working on all aspects of event production including researching issues and contacts, drafting agendas and liaising with speakers. They also attend and assist at seminars and receptions held in the Westminster area. There's a high degree of multi-tasking, but support from the Forum's senior producer and rest of the nearly-50 strong team across the company is always on hand. The company is focused on career development for those with aptitude. Most of the work takes place in a friendly office in Bracknell close to shops and transport links. To apply please email your CV together with a covering letter, indicating salary expectations and why you would be suitable for the position, to Mary Jane Drummond.

Job title: Business Development Executive
Apply by: January 2012
Salary: depending on experience

The Business Development Executive organises a range of sales and marketing activities for the company including seminar, publication and special event sponsorship, and helping to secure exhibitors.

This is a role focused on research, co-ordination and tracking rather than on selling or closing deals, however the ability to effectively discuss opportunities on the phone or in person with prospective sponsors would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be ambitious and highly organised with an enquiring mind, able to undertake efficient, insightful research into companies and sectors. They will have excellent reporting, planning and communication skills. Strong time management and the ability to multi-task are essential, as is an understanding of current affairs and the world of business.

Westminster Forum Projects organises senior-level seminars on public policy in media, telecoms, education, nutrition, health, energy, transport, the environment and other areas. It enjoys considerable support from within Parliament and government, in industry and amongst interest groups. The Forum is impartial and cross-party, and has no policy agenda of its own. Sponsors do not exercise control of agendas so ours is a specialised and challenging market, but one where we are achieving good results. This job is about helping grow that success. The company is focused on career development for those with aptitude who work here.
