This conference focused on reforms to assessment structures and accountability measures at primary level.
Delegates considered the implementation of new teacher-led assessments following the removal of National Curriculum levels, steps that can be taken to improve the consistency and the comparability of teacher-led pupil assessment, and the introduction of the more rigorous tests at Key Stages 1 and 2 from 2016.
Sessions also focused on changes to the accountability measures ahead of the implementation of new more rigorous floor standards for primary schools from 2016, including the new reception baseline tests which are available for schools from September 2015 and will become the only progress measure for primary schools from September 2016.
Delegates also discussed measures that could be taken to increase the secondary school readiness of pupils, including assessment of Government plans to make pupils not achieving the required levels in Key Stage 2 exams re-take them in secondary school.
