This conference examined policy priorities for London’s transport system and its funding in light of the challenges posed by the pandemic.
The agenda brought out latest thinking on:
- priorities for investment - the outlook for the development of transport infrastructure in London
- the pandemic - responding to its continued impact on transport in London, including in terms of service levels and financial sustainability
- London’s road network - meeting the challenges of decarbonisation and serving the needs of road users
- bringing back confidence - boosting international connectivity and competitiveness, and attracting passengers back to public transport
It took place with the Mayor seeking to ensure the capital’s transport network is able to move forward with major projects and adapt to the impact of COVID-19 in the context of the TfL funding settlement from the Government.
We were pleased to be able to include keynote contributions from: Councillor Julian Bell, Councillor, London Borough of Ealing; and Board Member, Transport for London; Laura Citron, CEO, London & Partners; and Member, London Recovery Board; and Matt Gorman, Director of Carbon Strategy, Heathrow Airport.
The conference was an opportunity for stakeholders to consider the issues alongside key policy officials who attended from DfT; the ORR; the Planning Inspectorate; DCMS; the Government Legal Department; and the UK Space Agency.
