This seminar will examine key priorities for developing smart electricity grids in the UK - in light of the continued development of the Smart Systems and Flexibility Plan, and in the context of the Clean Growth Strategy and the Industrial Strategy.
Delegates will consider the challenges for building smart electricity infrastructure - looking at further action that might be taken to secure investment, the implications of demand pressures from electric vehicle charging, and the integration of renewable energy into the grid.
Sessions will discuss priorities for coordinating supply across the system, and opportunities for improving grid digitisation and promoting wider innovation - including in energy storage, in light of the government’s £30 million investment in vehicle-to-grid technology, and the recently published Road to Zero Strategy, for expanding the rollout of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
Further discussion will address the opportunities and challenges for reducing energy usage and costs for both industrial and domestic consumers - including focus on network costing and smart metering.
