Sessions also addressed the implications of the IfATE mandatory qualifications policy on degree apprenticeships with regards to funding, expansion and appeal, with attendees stressing the importance of maintaining degrees as an integral part of level 6 apprenticeships.
Discussion looked at issues surrounding quality assurance in degree apprenticeships, following concern from the sector over which bodies - including the IfA, OfS and QAA - hold responsibility for ensuring quality of degree apprenticeships.
Further sessions considered how universities can ensure comparability of degree apprenticeships with traditional forms of study. Delegates also discussed strategies for widening access and improving awareness of degree apprenticeships in schools and colleges.
