This timely conference is bringing together key stakeholders and policymakers to assess priorities for the funding and future development of the road network in England.
Delegates will discuss the Government’s recently-published Draft Road Investment Strategy 2 (RIS2) which sets out priorities for investment in the Strategic Road Network (SRN) from 2020-2025 and is backed by £25.3bn - including what it means for the network, implementation issues, and priorities for investment.
With the draft strategy outlining its key aims of enabling the SRN to support the economy, be more reliable and safer, be greener, and be a more integrated and smarter network, further sessions will discuss how the network can keep up with changes in demand - and progress towards each of the stated aims.
Further sessions will assess the future role for sub-national transport bodies, combined authorities and local government in the delivery of new road transport schemes and reducing congestion - as well as construction and funding challenges for the future - in the context of proposals to create a Major Road Network and the Transport Select Committee conducting its inquiry into local roads funding and governance.
