Westminster Education Forum

Priorities for implementing the EdTech Strategy - improving educational outcomes, supporting teachers, new approaches to procurement and tech sector engagement with schools

May 2019

This seminar focused on the next steps for education technology in England.

Policymakers, technology companies and educationalists discussed how to meet the challenges set out by Government for the edtech sector, and looked at key issues for schools, the teaching profession and for technology suppliers.

Attendees examined the latest trends in the use of technology in schools including the challenges that schools face in engaging with edtech and how industry can support schools in embracing technology, and spread best practice. Developments in the use of technology in reducing teacher workloads, particularly in administration processes, were also considered.

Further sessions looked at how to improve the supply of technology to schools, including through the development of effective partnerships between schools and industry, and new approaches by suppliers to marketing.

Shortly after every Westminster Education Forum seminar, a briefing document is produced. This is distributed to all delegates on the day as well as to our policymaker contacts in government, and to stakeholders more widely.

A seminar publication provides a timely record of proceedings, and acts as a guide to the latest thinking on current policy issues for those unable to be at the event.
