This conference examined the future for electricity markets in the UK, and the UK’s Electricity Market Reform (EMR) programme.
It was a timely opportunity for key stakeholders and policymakers to consider next steps for the Capacity Market (CM) and the Contracts for Difference (CfD) regime.
The discussion took place in the context of developments including the series of consultations on proposals to support the move towards low-carbon electricity generation alongside wider net-zero ambitions, and the Allocation Round4 (AR4).
We were pleased to be able to include keynote sessions with Dr Kathryn Bird, Head of Capacity Market Policy, Electricity Security and Market Evolution team, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Tom Corcut, Deputy Director of Wholesale Markets & Commercial, Ofgem; Sarah Keay-Bright, Senior Advisor Markets, Policy and Regulation, Energy Systems Catapult; and Professor Keith Bell, Holder of the Scottish Power Chair in Future Power Systems, University of Strathclyde; and co-Director, UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC)
The conference was an opportunity for stakeholders to consider the issues alongside key policy officials who attended from BEIS; HM Treasury; Ofgem; the CCC; the CMA; Defra; the CCS; the DIT; DLUHC; the DfE, NI; the DfT; Defra; the DECC, Ireland; the HSE; NAO; NIRO; OLS; The Scottish Government; the UKSA; and the Welsh Government - as well as parliamentary pass-holders from the House of Lords.
