This conference focused on policy priorities for care leavers - discussing next steps for the provision of support, strengthening the system, and helping the workforce deliver improved outcomes.
It was an opportunity to consider Ofsted’s Annual Report, the ongoing Independent Review of Children’s Social Care, and the outlook following the publication of its interim report, the Case for Change.
Delegates discussed progress in implementing a joined-up system of support for care leavers, as well as how best to enable key agencies to work effectively together, tackle long-term challenges faced by those leaving care, and improve access to future pathways into employment and further study.
We are pleased to have been able to include keynote sessions with: Mark Riddell, National Implementation Adviser for Care Leavers, Department for Education; David Graham, National Director, Care Leavers Association; and Nick Smith-Patel, Head of Education, MyBnk.
The conference was an opportunity for stakeholders to consider the issues alongside key policy officials who attended from Ofsted; the DfE; the DHSC; the DWP; the Cabinet Office; the GLD; and the Youth Custody Service.
