This conference examined next steps for utilising AI-driven technologies within health and social care.

It was a timely opportunity to consider priorities for delivering streamlined and effective AI-based care in the context of the development of an AI Strategy for Health and Social Care, and following progress made during the pandemic.

Overall, the agenda brought out latest thinking on:

  • developing the national AI Strategy for Health and Social Care
  • key ethical and legal issues in the development of AI-based health solutions
  • data security and sharing, patient anonymity, data confidentiality, and transparency around data use
  • priorities for research and innovation
  • workforce education and training for AI in health
  • addressing barriers, developing digital infrastructure across the health service, and improving the diversity of clinical research data

We are very pleased to have been able to include keynote sessions with Dr Nicola Byrne, National Data Guardian for Health and Adult Social Care; Dr Sarah Byron, Programme Director, Centre for Health Technology Evaluation, NICE; Johan Ordish, Head of Software and AI, Innovative Devices Division, Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency; and Dr Hatim Abdulhussein, Clinical Fellow, AI and Robotics, and Clinical Lead, Dart-Ed Programme, Health Education England.
