Delegates at this conference considered the next steps for providing integrated services following the publication of the first ever system-wide Shared Commitment for joining up health and community care, which sets out to make co-ordinated care the norm by 2018, and with the spending review allocating £3.8bn from the NHS budget as the Integrated Transformation Fund.
Sessions addressed how key stakeholders - such as Health and Wellbeing Boards, Clinical Commissioning Groups, local authorities and NHS England - can work together to improve outcomes, reduce inequalities and put people first. They also considered the impact of the Care Bill, which sets out measures to deliver joined-up care, key challenges to be addressed such as the professional divide between public, social and health care and opportunities for pioneer areas. Further sessions also discussed budget-pooling, provider innovation and measuring success.
