This conference will bring together policymakers and stakeholders to discuss priorities for building safety in England.
With the Government committing to implementing all 58 of the Grenfell Phase 2 report’s recommendations, the agenda will include examination of the new proposed roles for a single Construction Regulator and Chief Construction Advisor, and how responsibilities for safety are being shaped across the system, including ongoing reforms to the Building Safety Regulator. Delegates will consider how best to support those working in the sector to meet new requirements, including forthcoming duties linked to Awaab’s Law, electrical safety in social housing, and the proposed Hillsborough Law.
Planned sessions will look at how the safety regime is working in practice, including how Gateway approvals are operating, what is needed to accelerate cladding remediation, and how enforcement is being carried out. Discussion will consider how proposed reforms to the Building Safety Regulator, including a new Fast Track Process for new build applications, will impact housing delivery and balance safety. Attendees will also discuss potential impacts of the Building Safety Levy, and how costs and responsibilities can be shared fairly while continuing to support housing delivery.
Further areas of focus include changes to the Construction Products Regulation system, approaches to transparency in product information and testing, and factors that contribute to resident assurance and confidence in their homes. There will also be discussion on how recent commitments in the 2025 Spending Review, such as local authority capacity and digital infrastructure, can support effective implementation of the new regulatory regime.
