This seminar focused on priorities for industry and policy in developing the role of women across all levels of the UK sport sector.
Delegates considered how to address ongoing gender imbalance in leadership, decision making roles and the wider workforce; assessed the future role of women in shaping sports policy; and discussed how the sector might best approach improving diversity more broadly.
In the context of the growing interest in women’s sport, further sessions on the day examined opportunities for increasing participation, widening audiences, attracting investment and raising the profile of women’s sport globally - including tapping into brand, sponsorship and monetisation opportunities; growing the women’s broadcasting market; and promoting and developing role models across the sector.
Attendees also assessed what further support might be offered to enable athletes transitioning from grassroots to elite sport to overcome barriers, and maintain the UK’s international competitiveness.
