The seminar examined the future priorities for UK science and innovation, in the context of the Industrial Strategy, the formation of UK Research and Innovation, and ongoing uncertainty concerning access to EU science and innovation initiatives.

- Priorities for researchers in the changed regulatory environment;
- How the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund can best be utilised to maintain and grow the sector capabilities in the international market post-Brexit;
- How increased funding might best facilitate growth in UK research, particularly for the six ‘challenges’ outlined by the Government;
- Knowledge exchange and the prevailing state of commercialisation at UK universities - looking at best practice and what might be done to improve it; and
- The introduction of the KEF and challenges for delivering further improvements in knowledge exchange - looking at the catapult programme, managing intellectual property and the way ahead for university-business collaborations.
