The seminar considered the key policy priorities for developing England’s road network, as the Government and Highways England prepared the second Road Investment Strategy.
Delegates discussed steps that might be taken to address the challenges set out by the National Infrastructure Committee for tackling congestion, carbon and capacity on the network through the use of smarter technologies and improved road management.
Further sessions discussed the opportunities for reducing the impact of road traffic on air quality and the investment priorities for the local road network, as well as the future role for local government in supporting this development.
