This seminar brought together policymakers and key stakeholders to discuss the future role for wind energy in the UK’s energy mix.
Sessions assessed the opportunities created by the reduced generation costs for offshore wind, as well as how best to encourage innovation, new entrants and increased investment in the sector.
Delegates also considered the priorities for the Government’s plan for a transformative offshore wind Sector Deal, looking at what might be needed to help reduce costs, increase productivity, and support local communities and economies.
Further sessions assessed the obstacles facing onshore development and the consequences for offshore wind farms as they move increasingly further out to sea - including issues around planning, engineering and skills - and the costs incurred in doing so.
