This seminar examined key priorities for policy and industry in maintaining growth across the UK music sector.
Delegates discussed how the sector is adapting to latest digital consumption and market trends - including streaming, Big Data and personalisation of services - and examined how policymakers and advances in technology could address concerns regarding their effects on the value chain.
In light of the Industrial Strategy White Paper being published, further sessions considered the role that the music industry should play in the development of a creative industries early sector deal, and assessed key sector priorities - particularly in terms of IP, skills and exports - as well as issues around the declining provision of music education in schools.
They also discussed what further steps can be taken by policymakers to attract inward investment and maintain international competitiveness as the UK withdraws from the EU.
