This seminar brought together senior regulators and government officials with stakeholders to discuss issues at a key point in the development of the UK mobile market, focusing on consolidation, competition and regulation.
Delegates analysed the impact of consolidation and other market factors on competition in the mobile market and the offer to consumers.
With the seminar being held in the context of the Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review, those attending also examined issues around technology and infrastructure rollout, including coverage, quality of service and network extension; and considered what further regulatory action might be needed to improve mobile services and support fair competition.
Further sessions on the day assessed the impact of Ofcom’s initial spectrum auction on the shape of the market and looked ahead to the next auction, exploring issues around 5G deployment, and opportunities for device and service innovation.
