This timely seminar focussed on next steps for encouraging the use and adoption of data analytics in the UK.
Delegates assessed the growth prospects and commercial opportunities, as well as issues around encouraging innovation, improving services, and supporting wider adoption.
The discussion took place in the context of the recently-published Industrial Strategy White Paper - with measures aimed at making the UK a global leader in data-driven innovation, and on productivity, safe use of data and skills - and the UK Digital Strategy, which has ‘unlocking the power of data’ as a key pillar.
Policymakers and key stakeholders also analysed the technological, legal and regulatory challenges for Big Data collection and use, including issues around consumer trust, skill shortages and consumer privacy in light of the incoming EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the recent introduction of the Data Protection Bill.
