This conference brought together officials and senior representatives from across the cultural sector to consider the next steps for tackling the funding challenges facing the cultural sector in England and latest progress on implementing proposals set out in the Culture White Paper.
On the day, sessions considered the way forward for fostering a sustainable and competitive sector, with particular focus on mitigating the impact of further predicted reductions to local authority, grant-in-aid and lottery funding, including securing a fair spread of public investment across England and promoting effective financial management within the sector, as well as best practice examples for regional cultural development.
Further sessions assessed the diversification of revenue streams and new financial models, such as the rise of social enterprise, corporate sponsorship, maximising IP assets and building closer connections with European partners.
