The seminar assessed the priorities for UK climate change adaptation policy, as preparations are put in place for publication of the next National Adaptation Programme (NAP) in 2018.
Delegates discussed the current state of climate adaptation, prospects for the 2018 NAP and opportunities for Government to facilitate and coordinate greater adaptation across the UK.
With the Government’s second Climate Change Risk Assessment endorsing the priority areas of the Adaptation Sub-Committee’s 2016 Risk Report, delegates also discussed the next steps for protecting those sectors most at risk from climate change, with speaking contributions on flooding, water resource management, health, food production, wider environmental protection, and steps being taken in devolved jurisdictions.
Attendees also discussed the key priorities for developing and supporting adaptation strategies; the challenges for managing the economic impact of climate change and opportunities for improving the financing and attracting investment in green plans.
