This seminar was a timely opportunity to discuss priorities for food security in the UK - and Britain’s role in helping meet global challenges.
Delegates assessed challenges facing UK food security and recommendations which were released in the EFRA Committee's third report - as well as opportunities for improving the development and implementation of the UK Agricultural Technologies Strategy, the impact of the Met Office's new long range forecasting service for the food sector, and emerging options for improving the sustainability of UK farming.
They also examined latest thinking on current challenges facing food security globally, the role of international collaboration in promoting food security, EU agricultural priorities under the new Commission, and wider food security challenges beyond the EU.
