Sessions at this seminar focused on proposed reforms to assessment structures and accountability measures for primary schools.
Delegates at this seminar discussed the likely impact of proposals to allow schools to devise their own assessment systems following the removal of National Curriculum levels; the Government's plans to introduce revised tests at Key Stages 1 and 2 from 2016; and plans to strengthen the external moderation regime to improve the consistency of teacher-led pupil assessment.
Further discussion also included changes to the accountability structures for primary schools including: the introduction of revised floor standards and new baseline tests - to be sat by pupils at reception from 2015 and to be made compulsory for all pupils from 2016, as well as the new requirement for schools to publish detailed information to help parents understand the progress made by their children.
