Following the release of the National Information Board's IT strategy 'Personalised Health and Care 2020', attendees at this seminar discussed the delivery, roll-out, and integration of electronic health records across health and social care.
Delegates considered next steps for care.data, key issues surrounding the secondary uses of data and data protection, and the work of the Health and Social Care Information Centre and others in ensuring good governance of information.
Discussion was informed by publication of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Patient and Public Involvement in Health and Social Care's inquiry into care.data, which raised concerns about information security and public consultation.
Sessions focused on the impact of the Integrated Digital Care Fund plans to give patients access to their electronic medical records and progress on delivering a paperless NHS by 2018.
