This seminar looked at the delivery and commissioning of primary care, and the developing role of the GP.
Delegates considered the impact of changes to the GP contract for 2015/16, including the requirement of a named accountable GP responsible for coordinating each patient's care and the expansion of online services, as well as wider implementation of new models of primary care outlined in NHS England's Five Year Forward View, and the announcement in the 2014 Autumn Statement that £1 billion would fund advanced care in GP practices over four years in England.
It also provided an opportunity to discuss the future for primary care commissioning, following the publication of NHS England guidance on co-commissioning for Clinical Commissioning Groups.
Further sessions focused on regulation of primary care services, improving GP engagement with patients, and challenges for implementing the recent Government commitment to 7-day GP services by 2020.
