Delegates at this seminar discussed priorities for meeting the aims of the Dementia Challenge, and next steps for delivering effective dementia care.
Sessions focused on progress and what remains to be done in meeting the 2015 diagnosis target; the impact of NHS England and Clinical Commissioning Groups on the commissioning of personalised services; and, with the Care Act having received Royal Assent, alongside the Better Care Fund being rolled out for 2015/16, challenges for funding and working across budgets.
With the Prime Minister pledging a new drive by the UK to discover drugs and treatment that could slow down the onset of dementia or even deliver a cure by 2025, attendees discussed the development of clinical trials and innovative treatments. In addition, following the launch of the Dementia Friends campaign, delegates also considered what more can be done to raise awareness and to develop dementia-friendly workplaces, cities and societies.
