This seminar focused on the reform of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision in England, following the passage into law of Children and Families Act.
Delegates considered the impact of the major reforms contained within the Act and the subsequent implementation challenges for schools, local authorities, health professionals, support providers and families in implementing the new special needs system.
Sessions focused on the replacement of the 'statements' system with new integrated Education, Health and Care Plans, the introduction of optional 'personal budgets' for families to buy care and support and the extension of support for young people with SEND to age 25, including discussion of the draft Code of Practice and Government's to local authorities and health partners.
