With the Government aiming for the UK to have the "best superfast broadband network in Europe by 2015" and Ofcom set to release its draft regulations for the UK's biggest ever spectrum auction, this seminar offered a timely opportunity to consider the progress made and work still left in the delivery of broadband services, and how investment can be secured and strategies to tackle the digital divide.
Sessions focused on the role of 4G services in delivering 'broadband for all' and the possible implications of forthcoming auctions for other services, next steps in addressing the socio-economic, cultural and geographic causes of the digital divide and whether the market for NGA (Next-Generation Access) is sufficient to encourage the private investment necessary to hit the 2015 target.
