Cloud computing - security, market development and prospects for the G-Cloud

September 2011

Cloud computing looked set to be the buzz technology of 2011, with Microsoft releasing its online productivity suite, Office 365, Google its Cloud-based operating system Chrome and the UK government developing its own 'G-Cloud'. This seminar examined the challenges and opportunities facing public and private sector organisations considering moving into the Cloud, how to address security and privacy concerns over storing information online and whether consumers fully utilise the new and emerging services coming to market.

Shortly after every Westminster eForum seminar, a briefing document is produced. This is distributed to all delegates on the day as well as to our policymaker contacts in government, and to stakeholders more widely.

A seminar publication provides a timely record of proceedings, and acts as a guide to the latest thinking on current policy issues for those unable to be at the event.
