Smartphones, tablets and apps - the future for mobile

March 2011

This seminar examined the latest developments in mobile communications. The event looked at the state of the UK's mobile telecoms industry in an era of consolidation and the effect apps are having on service providers, manufacturers and developers and their relationships with each other. The seminar also looked at the impact new devices such as tablets and the next generation of smartphones are having on consumer usage, the prospects for M-commerce and the use of the mobile as a payment method.

Shortly after every Westminster eForum seminar, a briefing document is produced. This is distributed to all delegates on the day as well as to our policymaker contacts in government, and to stakeholders more widely.

A seminar publication provides a timely record of proceedings, and acts as a guide to the latest thinking on current policy issues for those unable to be at the event.
