Westminster eForum

The future of digital terrestrial television

September 2010

This seminar examined the future of the digital terrestrial television (DTT) platform in the UK, the role of Freeview and other bodies associated with DTT post-digital switchover (DSO), and how to promote technological innovation and competition in an increasingly crowded digital television landscape.
Sessions looked at the future of regulation, governance and industry structures in DTT; how to ensure interoperability and technical standards for new products, services and platforms such as next generation HD, 3D and web-enabled set-top boxes; and future approaches to marketing DTT after DSO to ensure it stays competitive. The seminar also included early findings from the Digital TV Group's consultation on the future of the sector.

Shortly after every Westminster eForum seminar, a briefing document is produced. This is distributed to all delegates on the day as well as to our policymaker contacts in government, and to stakeholders more widely.

A seminar publication provides a timely record of proceedings, and acts as a guide to the latest thinking on current policy issues for those unable to be at the event.
