Publications

Shortly after every Westminster eForum seminar, a briefing document is produced. This is distributed to all delegates on the day as well as to our contacts in government, parliament and stakeholders in the education sector more widely.

A Forum publication provides a timely record of proceedings, and acts as a guide to the latest thinking on current policy issues for those unable to be at the event.

Each publication includes:

  • All speeches from the day, with accompanying slides and speaker biographies
    (subject to approval by speaker);
  • Transcripts of question and comment sessions;
  • Supplementary articles from speakers and delegates; and
  • Event information such as the delegate list and final agenda

Open source software: in business, in government

TO BE PUBLISHED September 2010

The Government recently announced its commitment to create a 'level playing field' for open source software in Government IT procurement, and the splitting up of major projects into their component parts to allow smaller firms to compete equally with the major software houses. This seminar will examine the use and deployment of free and open source software (FOSS), both in business and the public sector. The event will look at the positive and negative aspects of adopting FOSS, the challenges it may pose for training and how UK usage compares internationally.
