Following the release of the Government's Work and Health Green Paper, this seminar discussed the further action that can be taken to support disabled employees, and those with long-term health conditions, to find or maintain employment.
Delegates considered the potential impact of key announcements from the paper, including the launch of a consultation on Work Capability Assessment reform, a new Personal Support Package for disabled people and those with long-term conditions, and large scale trials on how health-led services and support can help them back into work.
Sessions also examined the further challenges for meeting the Government’s commitment to halve the disability employment gap by 2020, in light of the Work and Pensions Select Committee’s inquiry, and proposals for the new Work and Health Programme.
The seminar brought together senior policymakers with key stakeholders including employers, disability campaign groups, employment lawyers and representatives of the HR profession, occupational health providers, trade unions, charities and others with an interest in these important issues.
