This seminar provided a timely opportunity to assess the next steps for social care in England.
Taking place in the context of the additional council tax flexibility for local authorities announced in Autumn 2015’s Spending Review, delegates discussed how this development will affect adult social care services, those who deliver them, and those who rely on them.
Further sessions looked at the impact of additional Government funding as part of the Better Care Fund, and how well this is working in supporting social care providers to cover costs with the introduction of the National Living Wage.
Attendees also considered the Government’s mandate to NHS England to help achieve better integration of health and social care, including through integration plans which must be agreed in every area of the country by March 2017, and to be implemented by 2020.
