This conference assessed the future direction of policy on energy efficiency for households and options for Government, with the expected announcement of a successor scheme to the Green Deal.
Delegates discussed the progress a year into the second iteration of the Energy Companies Obligation scheme (ECO2), ahead of the announced replacement programme beginning in April 2017. Sessions also examined priorities for tackling fuel poverty following news that the Warm Home Allowance will be extended into 2021. Further topics included latest thinking on incentivising households and businesses to minimise energy wastage; integrating energy efficiency strategies with local planning priorities and progress on smart meter roll-out and use.
The conference brought together policymakers in Government and Parliament with senior representatives from the energy supply and efficiency sectors along with their technical and other advisors, business and consumer groups, academics, legal and financial experts, environmental organisations, local government and other interested parties.
