Delegates at this conference discussed priorities for healthcare research.
Attendees assessed the recommendations outlined in the Accelerated Access Review Interim Report on innovation in health research and adoption of new treatments, as well as developments announced in the Spending Review, including a government investment of £5 billion in health research, and a further commitment to research into genomics and antimicrobial resistance.
Further sessions focused on priorities for developing frameworks to drive medical innovation, next steps for promoting cost-effectiveness in health research, collaboration and partnerships across business and academia, the role of the third sector in advancing healthcare research, and challenges for the regulation of the research industry.
