Delegates at this seminar considered priorities for policy on dementia care, and next steps for service delivery.
It took place in the context of new models of care outlined in the NHS Five Year Forward View aimed at improving integrated care for patients, and also included discussion on developments in research and training NHS staff in handling dementia.
Further sessions focused on the role of the GP in diagnosis, the impact of the Care Act on improving care at a local level, and measures announced in Public Health England's five year strategy for dementia risk reduction - including raising awareness and building the evidence base.
