Next steps for green finance in the UK - policy and regulatory developments, SDRs and the green taxonomy, a UK net-zero financial centre, international collaboration, wider societal benefits

Morning, Monday, 9th May 2022

It takes place in the context of ‘Greening Finance: Roadmap to Sustainable Investing’ from HM Treasury and the announcements made in conjunction with the COP26 conference.

We are pleased to be able to include keynote sessions from Adam Lyons, Head, Green Finance Unit, HM Treasury; and Mark Manning, Technical Specialist, Sustainable Finance and Stewardship, Financial Conduct Authority.

Delegates will consider the practicalities, opportunities and challenges of environmental disclosures and standards, along with the priorities for regulation and the design of investment labels.

Further areas for discussion include:

  • international - UK positioning in the global green finance landscape, including opportunities for collaboration, and the steps needed to make the UK the world’s first net zero financial centre
  • regional - the role of a greener financial sector in economic regeneration and job creation, and strategies for improving engagement and collaboration with local and devolved administrations
  • political - the implications for green finance of heightened tensions, particularly within the Conservative Party, on the direction of policy relating to the Government’s net-zero policy ambitions
