Policy priorities for UK manufacturing - investment, competitiveness and innovation

Morning, Thursday, 21st June 2018

Central London

This seminar will focus on the future policy outlook for manufacturing in the UK.

Following the publication of the Industrial Strategy White Paper and the announcement of Sector Deals for the AI and Automotive, delegates will consider what more policymakers and industry stakeholders can do to drive growth across key manufacturing sectors.

Delegates will also discuss future challenges and opportunities ahead as the sector prepares for Brexit, including issues around skills, supply chains and international exports, as well as the latest policy initiatives to support manufacturing firms looking to scale up, following the Patient Capital Review and the launch of the National Investment Fund.

Further sessions will consider how UK industry can best adopt, and become a world leader in innovative manufacturing processes - and we expect discussion on the opportunities presented by industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, Big Data and the circular economy, as well as their implications for the sectors productivity.

For this conference we expect speakers and other delegates to be an informed group including Members of both Houses of Parliament, senior government officials from BEIS, DIT, HM Treasury, Innovate UK and other relevant departments, along with representatives from across the manufacturing sector, as well as catapults, investors and banks, suppliers, LEPs, local authorities, trade associations, consultants, universities, think tanks, skills bodies, unions and economists - and representatives of the national and trade media.
