The future for the chemical industry and chemical regulation - UK REACH, the UK Chemicals Strategy, certainty and transition, international regulation and competitiveness, and net-zero

Morning, Wednesday, 20th April 2022

This timely conference will examine the future for the chemical industry and chemical regulation in the UK.

It is bringing together policymakers and key stakeholders to examine issues around priorities, clarity and next steps for the UK Chemicals Strategy and UK REACH, with a consultation on UK REACH set to take place in 2022.

Further sessions look at engagement with industry across the full supply chain and support for innovation, as well as what wider policy ambitions for the UK to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 means for the chemicals sector.

We are pleased to be able to include keynote sessions with a senior speaker from Defra; as well as contributions from Steve Elliott, Chief Executive, Chemical Industries Association; and Dave Bench, Chief Executive, CropLife UK.

Overall, the agenda is structured to bring out latest thinking on:

  • UK Chemicals Strategy and UK REACH - policy priorities and coordination, and the needs of industry across the supply chain moving forward
  • UK REACH - management of the transition, certainty for industry, costs, and options for support
  • a chemical industry for the future - innovation and commercialisation, sustainability and net-zero, and plant protection product regulation
  • the global outlook - international chemicals regulation, UK competitiveness and positioning, and market access and the impact of divergence
