The future of university estates - competition, local growth and regeneration, and future proofing

Morning, Thursday, 22nd February 2018

Central London

This timely seminar will consider the future development of university estates.

It takes place against a backdrop of a continuing rise in capital expenditure, but also with uncertainty in the sector - in the context of Brexit and the latest TEF results - over future costs, student numbers and research income for universities.

The agenda will bring out discussion on the policy and economic factors driving developments in the way universities are approaching investment in the estate - and the implications for competitiveness going forward and the impact of universities on their local communities.

Delegates will discuss the policy drive and economic case for supporting local economic growth and how universities can work more effectively with local businesses, communities and government.

They will also assess steps being taken by universities to influence students' choice of institution through investment in the quality of the estate.

Further sessions will bring out latest thinking on the future-proofing of university estates, as learning and living environments and to ensure new and existing buildings are environmentally efficient and sustainable.
