Westminster Social Policy Forum

Next steps for transgender equality - inclusion, rights and services

Morning, Monday, 4th June 2018

Central London

THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED

This timely seminar will consider policy priorities for transgender equality.

It takes place with the Government announcing new proposals to streamline and de-medicalise the process for changing gender as part of plans to reform the Gender Recognition Act, and as it canvasses the views of LGBT people on ways to improve public services - as well as in the context of Brexit and the future of current equality legislation such as the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

Delegates will discuss priorities for transgender physical and mental health, following the recent NHS England consultation on how Gender Identity Clinics will deliver specialised outpatient services and how surgical units will deliver surgical interventions.

Further sessions focus on key issues for transgender equality in education, employment and other settings, as well as transgender coverage and representation in the media.
