THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
This seminar will discuss the future role of NICE, its collaboration with NHS England, and the key challenges and developments facing the medtech and pharmaceutical industries - bringing together policymakers and key stakeholders.
Delegates will assess the challenges and opportunities for NICE in scaling up to provide faster assessments of the clinical and cost-effectiveness of new medicines, following the initial agreement of the new Voluntary Scheme for Branded Medicines Pricing and Access, which replaces the expiring Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme, and includes plans to provide NHS funding for those medicines recommended for use by NICE.
Attendees will discuss the practicalities of implementing further potential changes to the appraisal process - as the Department of Health and Social Care considers whether to allow NICE to charge companies for technology appraisals, following a recently closed consultation - including the impact of charging for appraisals to small businesses, and implications for NICE’s budget and to patient access.
Planned sessions will also consider the future priorities for NICE in adapting to changes across the health and social care landscape - including on using data and reducing variation - and priorities for developing future guidelines, with discussion on the role of NICE in supporting shared decision making, evidence-based decommissioning and clinical excellence.
