Next steps for NICE - shared decision making, measuring output and market access

Morning, Thursday, 10th January 2019

Central London

This conference will be an opportunity to discuss the future role of NICE - including in improving market access, promoting shared decision-making and effectively measuring output.

Following the publication of the Life Sciences: Industrial Strategy earlier this year, sessions will consider the opportunities for supporting the adoption of innovative approaches and products in healthcare and the progress of the Accelerated Access Collaborative in streamlining the current route to market.

Attendees will assess the key priorities for NICE across health and social care - including discussion around developing new guidelines, decommissioning of services, and how best to measure the impact of their output to drive quality of service. Delegates will also discuss the role of shared decision-making in improving patient involvement and greater alignment with the Getting It Right First Time programme to reduce variation in care.

Further sessions will examine the landscape for market access to medicine and technology, how the appraisal and approval process is evolving as well as the working relationship between NICE and NHS England, particularly in regard to the managed access fund and specialised services.
