THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
This conference will be an opportunity to discuss the future role of NICE - as possible amendments to its legislative framework are considered by the Department of Health and Social Care.
It is set as the Department of Health and Social Care assess whether to allow NICE to charge companies for technology appraisals - with consideration of whether smaller companies should be charged a reduced fee.
The conference also follows the recent ruling by the High Court, finding in favour of CCGs in the use of off-label medicine in the treatment of wet AMD, and will assess the impact of the ruling - including on access for patients and potential savings for the NHS.
Delegates will assess the key priorities for NICE across health and social care - including discussion around developing new guidelines, decommissioning of services, and how best to measure the impact of their output to drive quality of service. Attention will also focus on the role of shared decision-making in improving patient engagement and greater alignment with the Getting It Right First Time programme to reduce variation in care.
Further sessions will examine the landscape for market access to medicine and technology, the working relationship between NICE and NHS England, particularly in regard to the managed access fund and specialised services, and how the appraisal and approval process is evolving.
