THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
This seminar is bringing together policymakers with key stakeholders to assess latest developments and next steps for tackling obesity in England.
The discussion takes place with the second stage of the Childhood Obesity Plan recently announced by the Government - which includes proposals around calorie labelling, advertising and local action, as well as measures to counter the ‘pester power’ of in-store promotions.
Following Public Health England’s Calorie reduction report, which challenges the food industry to reduce calories in products consumed by families by 20% by 2024, and builds on the Sugar Reduction programme, delegates will discuss latest developments in product reformulation, changes to portion sizing and offering healthier alternatives.
Further sessions will examine key themes emerging from the Health and Social Care Committee’s Childhood obesity inquiry report and the draft London Food Strategy; including further restrictions on HFSS food marketing and the seminar will follow the update of the nutrient profiling model.
Delegates will also consider key priorities for driving behavior change, reducing inequalities and what’s working well, with sessions on initiatives in London and Scotland.
