The future for the mobile market in the UK - consolidation, competition and regulation

Morning, Thursday, 5th July 2018

Central London

This timely seminar will be an opportunity to discuss key developments in the UK mobile market.

Discussion will focus on the impact of consolidation and other market factors on competition in the mobile market and the offer to consumers - as well as issues around technology and infrastructure rollout.

Delegates will consider the potential impact of Ofcom’s recent initial spectrum auction - aimed at increasing mobile broadband capacity for current users and paving the way for 5G services - and will look ahead to the further 5G spectrum auction next year.

Planned sessions will look at developing the UK mobile market and its dynamics following the spectrum auction as well as the way ahead for infrastructure and technology, including its effect on services. Discussion will also take place on the future for regulation and policy and examine concerns regarding competition and the possible measures that can be put in place to address these issues. Competition concerns, possible remedies, and the future for regulation and policy will feature prominently.
