Next steps for the Internet of Things - commercial opportunities, service development and connected homes

This conference will provide an opportunity to discuss the growth and development of the IoT sector in the home.

Sessions will focus on the infrastructure required to deliver IoT at scale, the opportunities for British businesses to take a lead in the IoT market and the priorities for delivering on the government’s aim of improving energy efficiency.

Sessions are expected to look at:

  • Challenges for bringing together the UK’s research base and innovative businesses to commercialise IoT opportunities and take a lead in the global market;
  • Opportunities for combining IoT with other innovations in product design to significantly reduce household energy demand from appliances;
  • Priorities for resolving issues around interoperability and infrastructure - including spectrum - to support the widespread, rapid adoption of IoT; and
  • Challenges for securing networks and addressing concerns around data protection and other cyber security threats.
