Next steps for antimicrobials and combating antimicrobial resistance: funding, research and clinical practice

Morning, Thursday, 6th July 2017

Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London SE1 9DD

THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED

Informed by the final publication of the independent review on AMR and providing a timely opportunity to discuss the UK’s response to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), delegates at this conference will discuss the implementation of its recommendations and incorporation into the current 5-year Antimicrobial Resistance strategy - including the funding challenge for industry - with £50m set aside for a Global AMR Innovation Fund.

They will also consider the priorities for healthcare commissioners, providers and clinicians to tackle antimicrobial resistance, after the launch of NHS England’s national AMR programme.

Further sessions will focus on reducing the overprescribing of medicines and broad-spectrum antibiotics - following the publication of Public Health England’s latest ESPAUR report; the impact of guidelines, workforce engagement and commissioning frameworks on antimicrobial stewardship and infection control and the challenge of improving diagnostics - as well as the priorities for raising awareness amongst patients and the public on the potential impact of antimicrobial resistance.
