Improving blue light services - integration, regulation and innovation

Morning, Thursday, 17th May 2018

Sixty One Whitehall, London SW1A 2ET

This seminar focuses on the next steps for improving blue light emergency services, looking at developments in integration, regulation and innovation.

Delegates will consider the potential impact of the Policing and Crime Act (2017), which includes paving the way for PCCs to take over fire and rescue services in areas where a local case is made - as well as the practical challenges for implementing the Act’s new duty for police, fire and ambulance services to work together more closely.
Attendees will also assess future priorities for regulation as HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Service (HMICFRS), formerly HMIC, extends its new remit to cover fire and rescue services.

Further sessions focus on the future for co-location of estates and coordinated procurement, as well as key issues around operational integration and the practicalities of utilising shared emergency services headquarters. The seminar also takes place ahead of the rollout of the Emergency Services Network, and follows the reports from the National Audit Office and Public Accounts Committee which raised concerns over ensuring that the network is fully operational by 2020.
