Westminster Energy, Environment & Transport Forum

Priorities for a national air quality plan

Morning, Thursday, 15th June 2017

Central London

This conference will assess policy opportunities to improve air quality levels in towns and cities and measures.

It will be an opportunity for stakeholders and key policymakers to engage as the consultation concludes on a new UK Air Quality Plan.

Planned sessions look at the public health priorities for reducing pollution levels, with upcoming guidance due to be issued by NICE around the time of this conference, as well as discussion on the implementation and funding of new clean air zones across the country.

Following the Mayor of London’s previous announcement of a new daily ‘Toxicity Charge’ beginning later this year that will be applied to the most polluting vehicles, further discussion will focus on measures to reduce emissions across the transport sector and what more can be done to change driver and manufacturer behaviours. We also expect delegates to consider wider emission reduction plans and possible measures to reduce the impact of the industrial sector on air and the environment in the UK.
